Still so busy obtaining continuing education credits for my certifications; personal trainer, health coach, group fitness instructor, clinical hypnotherapist and ICF credentialed coach. I love learning new ways to help people make positive changes. For example I’ve been helping people get out of chronic pain, gain relief from fibromyalgia, insomnia, migraines and other previously debilitating conditions after learning additional techniques and strategies from experts here and in the UK.
I’m now certified to teach and certify others to be hypnotherapists through the International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapists (ICBCH). Watch for videos on my website… I’m so excited to be certified as a HypnoBirthing Practitioner and will be offering classes in the South end in the coming months. Also interesting is becoming involved with the End Of Life Doula organization. This is such an important effort and national movement.
And, YES I’m still seeing people for the usual challenges, anxiety, depression, weight loss, sports performance, confidence, smoking cessation and more. So contact me if you need a session.
Article: About those things you can’t change…
Most of our stress comes from the way we respond, not what is going on in the world. The secret and often the challenge is in changing the way we think about it. Once we do that, all that stress will be gone.
Think about those times where things didn’t turn out as you hoped or you were let down or hurt by other people’s actions. Rather than focusing on the uncontrollable things done to you, consider instead your part in the situation. For example, maybe you felt discriminated against for your age, weight, gender, sexual orientation etc. Or maybe you were deceived, blamed or criticized by someone in a relationship you wished you’d ended a long time ago.
Most of us us find it so easy to begin blaming others for the negatives in our life. But does this really change anything? No, it just anchors the hurt feelings more deeply in our minds and we end up hurting over and over again.
The best thing for us is to turn on that POSITIVE Swich and take responsibility for our own state of mind even if it’s difficult. Because that’s when it will make the biggest difference. After all, we have no control over what others say and do, but we do have 100% control over our response and how we let it affect us.
So rather than blame yourself, take a moment to look inward to see what you can learn from the situation. Think about how you will respond in the future. Skim the surface of the situation and glean the learnings, the good juicy stuff you will remember.
And, remind yourself of your strengths, abilities and the unique contributions you make to this world. Surround yourself with supportive people and change your inner self talk to positive, encouraging statements that you would tell someone you love very much.

- Place your hand over your heart and breath through your heart space and visualize hugging yourself.
- Say something kind to yourself.
- Rather than eliminate stress, increase living and honoring your values – what’s important to your life. What would it look like if you honored that?
