It’s the first month of a brand-new year and many people are making resolutions they won’t keep.  How about you?  Do you make New Year resolutions?  Do you keep them?
I don’t make resolutions, but I do write down things I want to let go of and accomplish every year.  I really look forward to the new year because it’s a time to start over with a clean slate, begin a new chapter in my life and release what no longer serves me.  Here’s part of my process it you want to give it a try.
Ask yourself: What do you want, and how will you know you’ve got it?
If you find this challenging, first, identify anything that is currently part of your life that you want to let go of in the future.
Most people can think of something they want to let go of and release. Examples might include,
·       A current job you don’t enjoy.
·       Unwanted habits that cause you problems.
·       A dissatisfying relationship.
·       A limiting, negative, or destructive belief about yourself.
·       No time to spend doing things you really enjoy.
Take a few moments and figure out what you no longer wish to have in your life.  But, remember not to focus on them too heavily (don’t want to give them too much power in your mind, so you don’t reinforce them). Just know what they are for now.
Once you’ve identified the things that you would love to let go of or move away from your life, identify anything that is part of your life that you definitely want to continue in the future.
We all have good things in our lives; all of us. ???? Some of us may not think so, but we do. Identify those aspects of your life you definitely choose to continue to have.  They can include things like good health, good friendships, your home, feelings of happiness, a loving family, good income etc.
Then once you have made sure of some (or all) of the wonderful things in your life you want to continue, identify anything you would like to become part of your life in the future.  Think about what you want in your future.
If you find this challenging, think in big picture terms rather than specifics.  Think about what it is that you definitely want in your life in the future, no matter what.  This could include a loving relationship, better income, meaningful work, healthy friendships, personal growth, healing from past trauma, good health, fitness, happiness etc.
Next you can begin to be more specific about them. For example, if you want fulfilling work, identify what that means to you, i.e. making a difference, working with people, solving problems etc. Then figure out how you will know you’ve got it (fulfilling work, for example).
Once this is clear, begin to visualize yourself doing this (fulfilling work, for example).  See, sense and imagine yourself for example, doing fulfilling work as you work with people, making a difference and solving problems.
Spend time daily immersing yourself in this visualization and beging to notice what changes take place in your life.
Hope this was helpful. Happy visualizing!

We enjoyed the Bahamas and Florida last month while celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary!! Our favorite place was the butterfly sanctuary in the Florida Keys. One of the beautiful butterfly’s landed on my shirt and stayed there for quite awhile as we strolled through the garden. I’m told that means I’ll have good luck. ????
I must admit though, I really missed our Papillon, Cooper.
