It’s the day after Valentines Day, and how do you feel?  Did you receive flowers, chocolate, or perhaps another gift?  What did you do to show someone you care?  Did you feel the way you hoped to, or were you disappointed?

Our responses to Valentines Day range from loneliness and heartache to hot passion and love. Then there are reactions like that of the woman I talked to at Bally’s last night.  As we walked out of the club she asked me what day it was, and I said, well, it’s Valentines Day, February 14th.  To her it was just another day to be confused with all the others.

Whatever your response was, why not make this love-focused day extra special next year?  Better yet, let’s give it some test runs throughout the year.

I’m proposing that we practice a new ritual for Valentines Day.  Since it is all about love, let’s take this wonderful opportunity to give ourselves a little love on Valentines Day? Hmmm, what would that look like?

To start, I’ve rewritten the lyrics to the Elvis Priestly song below.

Love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go. You have made my life complete, and I love you so.

I love myself tenderly and sweetly. I have the utmost compassion for all that I’ve been through and I will lovingly support myself in the journey ahead.  My commitment is to honor myself by doing things that are nurturing, loving and caring of my body, mind, and spirit. I will never loose sight of the importance in doing this.  When I am deeply connected with who I am at my core, my CHE™, I am truly happy and content.  In doing this I live authentically and my essence shines brilliantly.  When I am at my best, with me, I am able to give genuinely and abundantly to others.  Now it’s your turn.  How would you use the essence of this song to write a love song to yourself?

Love me tender, love me true, all my dreams fulfilled.  For my darlin’ I love you,
and I always will.

Love me tender, love me long, take me to your heart.  For it’s there that I belong,
and we’ll never part.

Love me tender, love me dear, tell me you are mine.  I’ll be yours through all the
years, till the end of time.

When at last my dreams come true Darling this I know Happiness will follow you
everywhere you go.  Elvis Presley – Love Me Tender Lyrics

Loving us tenderly, Patricia
