Patricia has been coaching me for several months in my position as a supervisor with the State of Washington. Each week, she asks what I would like to work on and I tell her about the dilemma or problem I am facing. I appreciate the coaching because it allows me to step back from the crisis to reflect and consider alternative options. Patricia encourages me to commend my staff and to let them know that I value their work individually and as a team. I am learning:
1) To trust my own judgment.
2) That maturity isn’t necessarily connected to age
3) That it is better to say the hard stuff than to let it fester
4) To communicate
5) To remember that listening takes time
6) To deal with problems promptly
