Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of intense focus, awareness and increased receptiveness to suggestions. It is a naturally occurring state of mind. We go into and out of hypnotic trance many times a day–right before sleep and right before you awaken. Watching TV, driving, daydreaming, reading a great book and any thoughts that take us away from the present moment are hypnotic trance states.
Hypnotherapy is a powerful and quick treatment process. In contrast, psychotherapy may take years of ongoing visits in order to see results. Both modalities have their place in helping people heal and change behavior.
Most people love how it feels to be hypnotized. It feels good – so good that you may find yourself wanting to repeat the experience! Not only is it highly valuable to relax at deep level, hypnosis, is a natural energizer too. A hypnosis session is equal to approximately two hours of sleep and it allows you to feel refreshed and renewed afterward. How’s that for making positive changes while getting your battery recharged in the process.
Some people feel no different than in an awakened state. Others may feel extremely relaxed and peaceful, or light and floating feelings. It’s surprising to some that it is not more spectacular and earth shattering.
Can I be Hypnotized?
Yes, everyone can be hypnotized. Hypnotic trance is a natural daily occurrence. However when you are placed in a trance by hypnotist it is used as a technique to help you achieve your goals.
Can I be stuck in Hypnosis? Are there any side effects?
Hypnosis with a skilled therapist is completely safe. The great benefit in using hypnosis is there are no side-effects. The client is always in complete control and anything the hypnotist says or does can be rejected. You cannot be stuck in hypnosis.
How many lessons will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the person and the issue being addressed. An estimate and recommendation will be given either during the initial call or first session. Some cases are handled very successfully in one or two sessions, while others may take a few more sessions.
How long does Hypnotherapy last?
The positive results of hypnosis can last for a very long time for many. Others may benefit by an occasional tune up session. For sure, lasting change depends on your desire to following simple and easy instructions. For example, hypnosis does not remove the need to exercise and eat appropriately. It can just make it easier. My goal is to support you in learning skills to help yourself in maintaining the changes we create.
Can Hypnosis control my mind and make me quack like a chicken?
No, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You are always in control and will not do anything you wouldn’t ordinarily be inclined to do. So if you’re a chicken quacker, you may do that if given the suggestion while hypnotized J No one is ever hypnotized against their will, and no one can make you do anything you don’t want to do.
